Minutes of October 29, 2011 Reunion Committee Meeting
Our meeting was at Joanne Leverone’s home on Saturday, October 29th at 10:00. Joanne provided us with a fantastic brunch. There were 14 attendees: Marty Sharp, Amy Brush, Joanne Leverone, Pam Hansen (visiting all the way from Maine), Elaine Foster, Karen James, Candy Mela, Carol Zirkle, David White, Patt Thackrah, Carol Scott (with her husband Terry), Jill Bebout and Mardi Orchard-McGee.
We talked about the previous meeting at Seminole Park. We liked the picnic and decided that another one on April 14th of next year would be fun. Each picnic has brought classmates to our gathering who hadn’t attended the reunions. David White is going to reserve a place for us either at Bay Pines Park or Seminole Park. We’ll announce it as soon as we know the location.
The purpose of this meeting was to choose the date and place of our 50th reunion. We chose the dates of Thursday, May 1, 2014 through Sunday, May 4, 2014. The decision for the date was relatively easy. We discussed whether we would meet in downtown St. Petersburg or at the beach. The preference was St. Pete Beach. David White and Marty Sharp are going to choose the site which will likely be Dolphin Beach Resort, Tradewinds Islands Resort, or Sirata Beach Resort. We gave them the authority to make the decision and to sign the contract to reserve the facility.
Detail decisions about the theme, food, and activities will be decided as we get closer to the reunion date. Mardi will email questions to the classmates about activities that they would like us to arrange. We will ask for suggestions and also offer suggestions (a golf tournament, boat cruise, high school tour, and other touristy activities) to see what our classmates’ interests are. We already know that we are going to have a Saturday night banquet, a classmate discussion group, (which was a tremendous hit at the 45th reunion), and a display and sharing of classmates’ arts, hobbies and interests.
Next Fun Meeting is a Picnic in the Spring of 2012: Date: Saturday, April 14th Time: 10:00 am till 5:00 pm with lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 Everyone is asked to bring: · their meat (a grille for cooking will be provided) · their drinks · their utensils · another dish to share You might want to bring chairs, though we will have a covered shelter with tables with benches. The park location will be announced as soon as it is reserved. We will update the website with all the information about the picnic and then email local classmates.
